Tradition!

From mists of lost history we feel only shots
impressions of times we've entirely forgot
ancient books and old lore serve only it seems
to keep us locked down, without any means
'portunity ain't knockin, them's just our knees
there aren't any gods or minotaurs on Earth
and if there were they would have little worth
save as curios, knick-knacks, and exhibits
a sideshow freak lineup ready for the gibbet
